Why is it that you never seem to get a trickle of rain, but always a downpour? The last week and a half have been CRAZY. Brian had a jury summons for the US District court in Pocatello that he had to show up for last Monday (not yesterday, the one before). Because we live more than 70 miles, they reimbursed him for a hotel room. We decided it would be fun for Sam and I to join him. So we all went to Pocatello for a night and a day. Sunday night in the hotel room we found out Brian's dad was admitted to the hospital because he had been constantly throwing up for 3 days. The next day they still didn't know what they were going to have to do to help him. Brian spent until 3:00 doing jury selection and wasn't selected, but just as he was getting out I was driving around town trying to keep Sam asleep when there was a clunk in the transmission and the spedomiter stopped working and the transmission started shifting hard. We 411ed the dodge dealership in Pokey and were able to get the car there. Thankfully they were honest and quick and didn't take advantage of the fact that we were from out of town. It was a couple of sensors and 2 hours and $3oo later we were on our way home with a very cranky baby.
The next morning we got news that Brian's dad was going in for surgety sometime in the afternoon for a bowel obstruction. We felt vey strongly that we needed to be there. Brian took 3 sick days and we left as soon as he got off work. They did the surgery and couldn't find anything. We saw his dad that night before he went to bed and then spent the rest of the week visiting him (until he came home on Thursday) and doing things around their house to help lift the load a bit. We came back on Sunday, only to find out a few hours after getting back to the burg that his dad was throwing up again. Yesterday morning they readmitted him to the hospital after having him there all night, and today they think it might be his kidneys. So, we wait. And we pray. And we try to keep Sam happy because he is teethin and also may have a little cold or allergies (can babies have hay fever?). We just keep hoping things will calm down so the stress level can lower just a little bit. Now I feel better.

Wow! I'm sorry to hear about Brian's Dad and your crazy trip...so often it seems we get to experience everything at once, whether we like it or not. Have a hug, you're all in our prayers.
